Great performance and wonderful flutes! Are they by Binns or a later addition?
Two Impromptu's by Nicholson were published. That in D played in this website and one in A flat which I have yet to hear. They were published by Stainer and Bell (www.stainer.co.uk) so perhaps your search could start there.
Nice to hear a piece I have never heard before! Was this the same Nicholson who was involved with the RSCM years ago?
Yes. Sir Sydney Nicholson, then organist of Westminster Abbey, founded the School of English Church Music, forerunner to the RSCM, in 1927. It was to consist of a training college for church musicians (the College of St Nicolas), and an association of affiliated churches who committed themselves to attaining high standards.
I live in Kent and have never visited Blackburn but that may now change! I was knocked out by the sound of the organ in the Liszt BACH clip you have on this site. What a thrilling sound: glinting choruswork and fiery reeds and a good performance too!!
Renn and Boston had never come on my radar as organ builders till I saw the video of the Salford church on your website. Amazing sound - so bright! - and good playing.
This is aa great blog
