Restoration of fire-damaged Bevington organ

The Bevington organ in St Michael's, Weyhill.

This is the Bevington organ in St Michael's Church, Weyhill, Hampshire, which we restored last year after it was damaged by a fire in the roof.

Unfortunately the flames had spread to the back of the organ, which was taken back to our workshop for extensive repairs. These included releathering the bellows and feeder and repalleting the soundboards.

The single manual instrument was built in 1880 by the London-based firm Bevington and Sons with the following specification: Open Diapason 8, Stopd Bass 8, Claribel 8, Bell Gamba 8, Principal 4, Harmonic Flute 4, Bourdon 16.

Wood Pipe Organ Builders has many years of experience in restoring 19th century organs and instuments that have suffered fire damage. Please get in touch if we can help with your needs.
